MonkeyFans! Can you smell it?! Breeding is in the air!
Coming off the partnership announcement heard round the world with reigning Serie A champions AC Milan, and as we inch closer to the launch of Breeding, it’s time to break down some of this highly anticipated feature.
First, it’s important to understand that Breeding is a fun yet powerful feature that has tremendous influence and impact on the game, game economy, and NFT population. As such and learning from others, the team has put a ton of planning into developing a breeding feature that is not only entertaining but is responsible, scalable, sustainable, and makes sense for all.
Although the main Monkey population thus far, the Gen Zeros, have the highest concentration of higher Alphas and Max Potential skills, newly bred Monkeys remain strong and unique Monkeys, especially when bred during a themed season. Newly bred Monkeys have great chances to have above-average Alphas and Max Potential skills. Furthermore, when breeding two stronger Monkeys together you have high chances to receive a super strong or even stronger new Monkey. More to come on the benefits of breeding in another article.
First, let’s recap the details of Breeding details:
- You need 2 Monkeys that are NOT directly related (Father-Son, Siblings)
- You NEED a breeding capsule to breed — which are single use, tradable SFTs.
- Each Monkey has a breeding cap of 4
- Each Monkey’s first Breed is FREE, with Breeds 2–4 increasing in cost which is paid in $MBS
- The first Capsule sale and breed is reserved for MonkeyPioneers ONLY
- To be eligible, join our Discord and be verified as a MonkeyHolder in our VerifiedHolder channel.
- We will be releasing the number of capsules up for first sale in the coming days. Stay tuned!
Capsule Costs:
Breeding Capsules are needed in order to fuze together your MonkeyPlayers’ traits to breed new MonkeyPlayer NFTs. The prices of Breeding Capsules are calculated as 85% of the average sale price of Gen Zero Monkeys on the secondary marketplaces at the time, using a 7–14 day rolling average of transactions and not including the top 10% of sales.
As everyone can see, our partnership announcement with AC Milan not only made some noise, it pushed the floor price of Gen Zero Monkeys up by about 25%! Because we are in lockstep with our MonkeyPioneers and our priority is to deliver an awesome breeding experience for our community, we are maintaining the 1st capsule sale price prior to the announcement — 3.9 SOL! Thereafter, capsule prices will be 85% of the average sale price of Gen Zero Monkeys at the time, as described above.
Important Note on Capsules:
Breeding Seasons and themes are not built into the Capsules. You can purchase a capsule and use it in a future Breeding Season theme to receive traits from that season. In fact, Capsules are good for 12 months from their mint date.
Breeding Fees:
Each MonkeyPlayer NFT will have a breeding cap of 4 and each MonkeyPlayer’s first breed is FREE! Breeding fees are also calculated as a percent of the average sale price of Gen Zero Monkeys on secondary markets at the time, excluding the top 10% of sales. The subsequent Breeding fees for the same MonkeyPlayer’s 2nd to 4th breeds are as follows:
- Breed #2 of the same Monkey will be 25% of the average Gen Zero sale price.
- Breed #3 of the same Monkey will be 80% of the average Gen Zero sale price.
- Breed #4 of the same Monkey will be 200% of the average Gen Zero sale price.
If you are breeding 2 MonkeyPlayers together where one of them has been used to breed already and the other has not, then the fee will be an average between the two’s breeding fee levels.
Breeding Genetics
According to the breeding economy and genetics, we developed, when breeding two MonkeyPlayers, the new Monkey has a 31.5% probability of receiving an Appearance trait from parent A, a 31.5% probability of receiving an Appearance trait from parent B, and a 37% probability of receiving a mutated trait from both parents.
Don’t forget, when breeding during a themed season you also have good chances to receive a surprise trait from that season in your new Monkey!
When it comes to game skills and perks, your new Monkey will receive a mutation, although a new Monkey can come out having stronger stats then the parents!
