Awards

With our awards programs, NEI recognizes the leadership and achievements of our members as they work to advance a clean, carbon-free future.

Top Innovative Practice (TIP) Awards

The TIP Awards showcase new and creative ideas and practices developed by our industry’s talented workforce. The TIP Awards, currently open to NEI members only, have a direct impact on improving the safety and reliability of nuclear energy. The awards are given at the industry’s annual meeting, the Nuclear Energy Assembly.

Industry Leadership Awards

The Henry DeWolf Smyth Nuclear Statesman Award recognizes an individual for extraordinary, career-long contributions to the nuclear energy industry. The award was established in 1972 by the American Nuclear Society and NEI and is given every year, alternating the presentation between the ANS Annual Meeting (even years) and the NEI Nuclear Energy Assembly (odd years).

The William S. Lee Award for Industry Leadership recognizes individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to technical development, an improved regulatory climate or public acceptance of nuclear energy. The award is named for one of the nuclear industry’s most determined safety advocates and the driving force behind the founding of INPO and WANO. Bill Lee was chairman emeritus of Duke Power Co. and was the industry’s acknowledged leader. He was the first recipient of the industry’s leadership award in 1995.
