It was an inspiring day listening to the passionate voices of the Youth-led Mobilization Day at the Education2030UN ➡️ Transforming Education Summit (TES), convened by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, in New York.
Words of wisdom from the SG himself, from the importance of education to be a factor for reducing inequalities rather than increase them, to be a channel for inspiring cooperation and solidarity rather than competitiveness, as well as the importance of learning how to learn!
The youth on the other hand could not be more vocal and loud about the necessity and urgency to include them in the decision making process at every level: local, regional, national and international. The Youth Declaration launched yesterday is a testament to that commitment and that this young generation means business and is ready to fully contribute to shaping their future!

Witnessing dreams take flight through education initiatives is truly inspiring to me.
At Ericsson, we believe in the transformative power of education when it comes to shaping the next generation of tech leaders. The story of Ivalina Petrova, a young graduate of the Ericsson Educate: 5G University program in Bulgaria is an inspiring one, as we see her pursue her dreams at the European Space Agency.
Ivalina’s participation to the Ericsson-led education program as part of her studies at the Technical University of Sofia allowed her to gain industry-specific knowledge about 5G, broaden her expertise, and bridge any knowledge gaps related to this groundbreaking technology. The program has not only expanded her skill set but has also opened up a world of new opportunities for her professional growth and development.
At the core of this story lay the seeds of meaningful partnerships between the industry and academia, aimed at enhancing industry ready education to make students employment ready, and address the rapidly changing skill requirements of the job market. Recent data show that more than 1 billion jobs worldwide will undergo significant changes due to technology within the next decade. Technologies such as 5G offer the promise of new employment opportunities along with higher productivity gains, but also make new demands on skills.
This program developed by Ericsson is not just about education; it's about preparing students for a 5G-powered future, enabling them to drive the digital economy from the get-go. The program implementation at the Technical University of Sofia is in its second year, led by four expert professors, who’ve undergone extensive training by Ericsson on the latest of 5G technology and standards. This Train-the-Trainer model allows the upskilling of education professionals in academia whom in turn engage students in the dynamic world of 5G and beyond.
Ivalina's journey is a testament to the program's success, thanks to the dedication and commitment of the colleagues across Ericsson and the Technical University of Sofia who’ve made this possible.

We are so proud of launching Ericsson’s new Connect To Learn project in Senegal with our partners Free and the Senegal Ministry of National Education.
The Connect To Learn program aims to help bridge the digital divide and improve lives, by ensuring schools across the world are connected, and by equipping students and teachers with the necessary digital skills for enhancing their learning experience.
Looking forward to seeing the communities of these schools reap the benefits of the digital tools and training the partners are putting at their disposal.

An educated population is key to transforming economies and building inclusive and peaceful societies.
Ericsson’s commitment to bridging the digital divide includes a focus on digital learning and skills development. This is carried out through Ericsson’s global flagship digital education program, Connect To Learn, aimed at providing access to inclusive education and meaningful connectivity through initiatives around the world.
I am proud of the launch of a new Center of Excellence in India, in partnership with the Telecom Sector Skill Council, to train students in 5G and emerging technologies. In its first year, 300 students will develop advanced digital skills that will open up new opportunities for them in the ICT sector through job placement support.

In an increasingly digital world, Internet connectivity in schools has become vital to deliver education. Through providing a wealth of resources and enabling new forms of learning, access to the Internet and digital learning have played an important role in enhancing the quality of education globally. Improved learning outcomes lead to a wider range of higher education and career opportunities. Ultimately, these benefits to individuals are reflected in terms of higher incomes, better health, and improved overall wellbeing.
But with more than a billion children still offline, closing the digital divide is an urgent and important issue that needs to be addressed. Through its global partnership with UNICEF, Ericsson is supporting @Giga, an initiative that aims to connect all schools to the Internet by 2030.
Thanks to Giga, an additional 2.1 million students worldwide are now connected. The initiative is making great progress, but while we celebrate the achievements to date, we are aware of just how much there is to do.
You can read the full report on Giga’s impact so far here: https://lnkd.in/gfEasBGK#Giga2022report#Connectivity#DigitalInclusion

I believe that partnerships like Ericsson's and UNICEF's, in support of the International Telecommunication Union's & UNICEF’s Giga initiative, are essential in closing the digital divide and solving the school connectivity challenge.
Two years in, we have helped to lay a foundation that has created new opportunities for more than two million children worldwide. Through financial support and by deploying technology, expertise in data science, and volunteers, our collaboration is creating real change.
In this blog post I share 3 key takeaways from our partnership, and why mapping school connectivity matters.

On this #DayOfTheGirl, we are celebrating our continued collaboration with Technovation and its global program for girls that:
✊Encourages problem solving
💡Inspires future changemakers
♀️Helps make the technology-led future more equitable
Through this partnership, Ericsson employees are given the opportunity to mentor teams of girls around the globe on tech, entrepreneurship, coding, and inspire them to pursue careers in technology.
Meet two of the Technovation mentees here, and learn about the creative solution they have developed. An inspiring story that shows that there is a great momentum in embracing mentorship to keep the passion and curiosity for girls in their teenage years.
