Last week, NexWafe SVP Frank Siebke attended the kickoff meeting for the SOLAR POWER TRANSFORMATION CLUSTER, a/k/a “SPOT ON,” at the Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics CSP in Halle, Germany. As a founding member, NexWafe supports the organization's mission: SPOT ON is designed to enhance networking among manufacturing companies, service providers and research institutes throughout the solar value chain. The goal is to bolster Eastern Germany's standing as a solar energy hub. Last week for Earth Day, the Biden administration announced $7 billion worth of grants for solar projects for close to one million low-income households. The significance? It accelerates the energy transition to renewables while helping those with lower incomes reduce spending on energy. From US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in Patrick Kulp's Tech Brew article, "It’s unfortunate that the message about leasing at least hasn’t really trickled across to families that may have lower incomes, because even if you pay a lease payment, it can still be lower than your energy bill to begin with.
