Frequently Asked Questions
Amia is always equipped with its LiveLumbar™ System to help provide more lumbar support and comfort than comparable office chairs, made possible with height-adjustable spring force in the lumbar region that actively supports the lower back.
Amia Air features Air LiveBack® technology, an innovative geometric pattern that flexes in two dimensions to provide responsive, personalized comfort and fit. Additional height-adjustable lumbar support is offered on Amia Air chairs that include either 3D microknit or upholstery on the back.
Amia offers several points of ergonomic support, allowing users to sit comfortably for longer periods of time. In addition to the standard back support on Amia (LiveLumbar™ System) and Amia Air (Air LiveBack® technology), the back tension manually adjusts to support your desired posture and provides a customized fit. Amia’s seat is height- and depth-adjustable, with choice of ergonomic armrests offering four-dimensional adjustability: height, width, depth, and pivot.
Amia and Amia Air provide several points of adjustment all over the chair to support your natural sitting style. Adjustment controls are labeled for ease of use. Here are some tips:
- Push your hips as far back as they can go in the chair seat, so shoulders are parallel to your sit bones.
- Adjust the seat height so your feet are flat on the floor and your knees equal to, or slightly lower than, your hips. To raise the chair, lift your body weight and pull the lever up. To lower the chair, stay seated and pull the lever up.
- Adjust the seat depth: Lift weight out of the seat when adjusting depth and pull handle and hold, slide seat forward or back, and release lever handle lock. With your back against the chair, you should have 2"– 3" of space between the back of your knees and the seat edge.
- Adjust lumbar: Grab both handles and slide up or down. Position the lumbar to fit comfortably into the curve of your lower back
- Adjust the armrests so that your arms are at a 90-degree angle with your hands comfortably resting on the worksurface. Amia / Amia Air feature optional height, width, depth, and pivot- adjustable arms.
- Adjust the back tension to your desired sitting posture.
- Upright back lock - To lock backrest in upright position, lean forward and flip lever down. Flip lever up to unlock for full-range motion.
- Full recline range with back tension adjustment -Turn the knob forward for more resistance and backward for less.

The Amia chair upholstery can be cleaned with a simple mixture of 1 part clear dish soap and 16 parts water in a spray bottle, the spray should coat the surface but not soak through. Let sit 1-2 minutes and dry with a wet/dry vac to remove all moisture from the surface. Avoid using disinfectants, as they can damage the fabric.
