As a healthcare provider, you understand that children living with #kidneydisease spend an average of 8-14 days a year in the hospital often missing school, extracurricular activities and social lives to receive critical health care. AKF's Camp Connections gives pediatric kidney patients the opportunity to form new friendships, have fun and enjoy a monthly virtual activity with other children diagnosed with kidney disease. "Camp has been so important for that virtual community and then also it's spilled over to in-person. I can't even put a price on it. He's growing socially, he's making friends, he's having fun. Camp is part of our life, and it's not just for Henry, I think it's for all of us." - Elizabeth, AKF Camp Connections Parent Learn more about AKF's Camp Connections for your pediatric kidney patients: https://lnkd.in/euc5rR2B #KidneyMonth

AKF’s chief medical officer, Pranav Garimella recently spoke with HCPLive in recognition of #KidneyMonth about the increase in diagnosis and growing threat of chronic kidney disease as a public health crisis. “Almost one in seven adults, or approximately 35 million people in the United States today are estimated to have CKD. And many people, even as much as 90% of these people, don’t really know that they have the disease.” Watch the full episode: https://bit.ly/3F7K9wu

March is #KidneyMonth, and we are honored to partner with Olympic gold-medalist Suni Lee to share her powerful story of living with #kidneydisease and advice to the kidney community. When doctors told her she might never compete again, Suni refused to let her diagnosis define her. Through her resilience, Suni made an incredible comeback in her gymnastics career after her kidney disease diagnosis, going on to win gold and bronze medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and self-advocacy. As Suni says: “I would say to advocate for yourself. Use your voice, even when it’s shaking, and trust your gut. You’re the only person that knows your body.” This #KidneyMonth, take charge of your kidney health. Check out AKF’s #KnowYourKidneys, #KnowYourCause, #KnowYourPlan tools to get started: https://bit.ly/4bYS5vj
