The HKBU Symphony Orchestra Annual Gala Concert finally took place in the Hong Kong City Hall on 14 July. The Concert featured the integration of AI elements developed by a team of researchers from HKBU’s Augmented Creativity Lab, and it marked the first time in the world that an AI choir had combined with a machine-generated visual storyteller to perform interactively with Prof Johnny Poon, the conductor, and an orchestra. This AI-powered performance is one of the most significant milestones of the “Building Platform Technologies for Symbiotic Creativity in Hong Kong” research project, which is led by Prof Guo Yike, Vice-President (Research and Development).
