Very good!
It’s been nearly four years since I retired from SunTrust and I still carry the card with the SunTrust purpose, principles, and values. I admit, at first in 2011, I thought this was just another idea of the year but I was wrong... big time! In my 26 years with SunTrust, you championed something that transformed our team. But more than championing, your talk was matched with real, tangible actions. You walked the talk. It was a blessing to me to not only return to SunTrust in 2011 under Jorge Arrieta’s leadership but also to be a part of this amazing transformation among the SunTrust teammates that happened and continues to happen to this day because of your leadership. And by the way, your impact is being felt beyond Truist because that card keeps me grounded in the principles and values as I serve the Habitat mission in Jacksonville, FL. Thank you for this gift!
Thank you Bill for the inspirational message, and encouraging our teammates to always lead with Purpose. We appreciate your leadership!
This is a very good read. Thank you Bill. Our purpose (WHY) is and should be the single most important driver in everything we do, every day. Without purpose, you don't have clear vision into where we are trying to go and what we are trying to accomplish. Too often, presentations focus on the execution and a nice presentation with a lot of words. Always start with WHY. Make the presentation what the target audience needs to simply understand the purpose to create a belief that what we are doing is the correct approach. Beliefs drive behaviors and naturally will yield results. Hopefully positive results, but if not, your beliefs will drive you to try again, because the purpose is important. Thank you for your leadership and for listening to all of our teammates as they give feedback from a boots on the ground perspective and supports our true purpose as you stated, To inspire and build better lives and communities. Enjoy the journey!
Great points! Thank you for sharing Bill Rogers @Truist
The value of purpose in achieving business results is undeniable. Neuropsychology has demonstrated that the brain and mind guided by purpose is much more effective and creative than one focused only on profit. Of course, both purpose and profit are important, but the one you put in the driver's seat of your thinking will determine your level of success.
Thank you for sharing, Bill. Starting each day by evaluating if the items slated help advance our purpose, keep it idle or take us backwards is a key part of my daily routine. If the work does anything other than advance the purpose, I press pause and redirect. I know we have a huge opportunity before us to truly inspire and build better lives and communities as Truist teammates and agree that showing up every day with purpose center to our efforts will ensure we do just that!
Proud to work for a purpose- driven organization! I find meaning and fulfillment in what I do everyday-making a difference and having a meaningful impact in our communities!
