At the current trajectory, mobile broadband will provide network coverage to around 92 percent of the world’s population by 2024. This scale brings an unprecedented opportunity to address global challenges of sustainable development. Technology for Good is our initiative where we use our expertise in new technologies, our solutions, and our advocacy to make life better around the world.

For more than a century, Ericsson’s technologies have transformed sectors across society. We remain committed to leading this journey and believes that deployment of mobile broadband networks can help tackle a range of global challenges.

We continue to research and develop products and services that support and reach for the accessibility and affordability of communication infrastructure by offering services that drive sustainable economic growth and innovative solutions across areas such as education, financial services, health and humanitarian response.

Ericsson believes that partnerships are at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals, and public-private partnerships play a key role in our approach to sustainability and digital inclusion. We drive two public-private partnership programs globally: Connect to Learn and Ericsson Response.

Pledge: 1 million children and young people by 2025 with access to digital learning and skills

Ericsson aims to positively impact 1 million children and youth by 2025 by providing access to digital learning and skill development programmes. Through its flagship education initiative, Connect To Learn, Ericsson contributes to establishing an inclusive digital infrastructure, empowering teachers, students and schools to deliver a quality 21st-century education accessible to all. The programme contributes to developing the digital skills of children and youth to prepare a digitally skilled workforce, empower the next generation, and enhance industry-ready education. Ericsson's commitment to the World Economic Forum's Edison Alliance 1 Billion Lives Challenge is in addition to its partnership with UNICEF in support of the Giga project, another EDISON Alliance partner initiative to connect every school to the internet.

Connecting Learners: empowering generations

With half of the world's population lacking internet access today, connectivity is crucial to tackle the challenges young people face in obtaining quality education and future employment. We have joined forces with UNICEF to help close the gap by mapping unconnected schools worldwide.

ICT is a transformative force in responding to key development challenges such as access to education, SDG 4. Our partner program Connect to Learn brings the benefits of ICT to children around the world. Quality education prepares children for economic and personal empowerment and can have a positive effect on national economies.

Humanitarian response

The world faces increasing conflicts, refugee crisis, natural disasters and other challenges. If ICT is utilized we can transform humanitarian response and empower affected communities. Ericsson Response is our emergency relief program that focuses on providing connectivity to humanitarian workers in disaster areas that was established in 2000 and staffed by employee volunteers.
