Washington, DCThe following is a statement on behalf of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) by J. Martin Tucker, MD, FACOG, president of ACOG, and Iffath Abbasi Hoskins, MD, FACOG, president-elect of ACOG:

"ACOG is aware of the reports of a draft opinion that would strike down the protections afforded by Roe and Casey. We will continue to affirm that the ability of patients to access safe, legal abortion is critical for their health and well-being. We are deeply concerned by the current reports and will continue our ongoing work to prepare for a new dynamic when it comes to needed abortion care."

On May 2, 2022, ACOG released a message to the ACOG Community regarding the future of abortion care in the United States and ACOG’s role in advocacy, education, and engagement to prepare clinicians and to protect patients’ access to care.
