“Russian version of ChatGPT” YandexGPT 2 participated in the Russian University Unified Examination and scored close to the average score in a single subject

According to reports from Russia Today, RGRU and other media last Friday local time, the YandexGPT 2 chatbot, known as the “Russian version of ChatGPT”, has “obtained enough points to enter the university.”

According to reports, YandexGPT 2 obtained a weighted score of 55 points in the literature subject of the Russian Unified National Examination (Note: equivalent to the domestic college entrance examination). This score is close to the average score of Russian candidates in 2022 (63 points) and is much higher than the local University minimum qualifying requirement (40 points).

The Yandex team said that during the development process, special attention was paid to not including any content about unified examination answers in the database to ensure that YandexGPT 2 can answer and solve all questions like ordinary students .

In addition, the literature subject was chosen because it will test the knowledge, writing style, and creativity of YandexGPT 2 . According to reports, YandexGPT 2 has completed given tasks such as literary work analysis and composition.

A Russian education supervision agency stated that they do not consider YandexGPT to be dangerous because ordinary students cannot obtain AI help during exams and the use of any electronic devices during exams is strictly prohibited .

As previously reported, Dmitry Masyuk, Yandex’s head of search and advertising technology business unit, said last month that YandexGPT has been able to “steadily surpass” the performance of ChatGPT 3.5 when generating Russian content, and even provides better performance than ChatGPT 4.0 in many cases. Answer, and even said that it is “just a matter of time” before YandexGPT competes with its American rivals .
