Criteo yesterday gave some feedback on their Privacy Sandbox testing. They are one of the companies testing the most intensive and already started testing in the early phase of the Privacy Sandbox. "If Google were to shut off third-party cookies today and implement the current version of the Privacy Sandbox, publishers would see their ad revenue on Chrome tank by around 60% on average." "Criteo also observed a more than 100% increase in load time for ads rendered on Sandbox traffic." "Privacy Sandbox creates an enormous advantage for Google’s advertising business, including putting Google Ad Manager in a position to boost its market share from 23% to 83%." Those results are pretty alarming. IAB Techlab yesterday released a second version of their Fit Gap Analysis showing some changes but still many major usecases not being supported in the future. For the first time, Criteo has split out retail media and performance media (aka retargeting) in their latest earnings call. Commerce Max is still fairly small ($50m in Q1, north of 10% of Criteo's revenue), but it is growing fast (+35% YoY, compared with +24% for the much larger $12b Amazon advertising business), while the legacy business is still stagnating. #retailmedia #criteo

How to stop making assumptions at work? Today, Fabrice asks: — "I often catch myself assuming what others think about me. How can I change that? — Welcome to Episode 207 of AskMatty! Here’s my answer, Fabrice: — Let’s try this practical tool: →    The THINK Method It’s often used in therapy to reduce conflict. But we can also use it when we catch ourselves making assumptions. Let’s see how to use it. 1.    First, take a moment to breathe and notice your thoughts. For example, you might think: →    “I feel like my boss thinks I’m not doing a good job” Now, let’s dive into the THINK method. We’ll reflect on 5 questions — one for each letter of THINK. 1.    T — Think Ask yourself: →    Is this assumption true? →    What facts do I have to support it? For example, you might say: "Last week, my boss didn’t give me positive feedback on my project. But I also remember she said she appreciated my effort on the last one." 2.    H — Have Empathy Ask yourself: →    How might the other person be feeling? →    What could they be going through? Sometimes, we just need to put ourselves in others’ shoes. Maybe your boss is under a lot of stress with deadlines. Maybe she didn’t have time to give everyone feedback. 3.    I — Interpretations Ask yourself: →    Am I considering other possible interpretations of their behavior or words? Maybe your boss isn’t upset with your work. Maybe she’s just busy and hasn’t had a chance to acknowledge it yet. You know what I mean? 4.    N — Notice Ask yourself: →    What do I notice about my feelings right now? →    Am I feeling anxious, insecure, or something else? You might feel anxious about your boss being unhappy with you. But it’s not always about you, right? :) 5.    K — Kindness Ask yourself: →    How can I respond kindly to myself and the other person? For example, you might remind yourself that everyone has off days. You could also check in with your boss about your progress. And maybe ask for feedback. Got it? That’s it. A recent study by Spendesk found that the average SME in Europe (UK, France, Germany, Spain) have an average of 800 suppliers and they only use about a quarter of them. This blog discusses why (IT sprawl being a potential driving force) and how measures like asset management can help prevent or rectify vendor bloat. https://lnkd.in/gamwyTS4 In the light of this, here are my top 3 action items to begin with: 1) Conduct an audit of your suppliers A thorough assessment and review of such of all your current suppliers to identify and eliminate those that are no longer in use, necessary, too expensive, too risky etc to start streamlining your supply chain. 2) Invest in IT Asset management You need to have robust IT Asset management capabilities to discover and keep track of all software and services. Ideally you will start classifying your assets, apply tiers to them which will also help you to make better decisions about access, authorization, conditional access, patching, networking considerations and so on. 3) Make intentional decisions in regards to purchasing Before you acquire any new tools and services, evaluate existing resources in your current infrastructure, discover redundancies, ensure that integrations are delivering value as intended, and reconsider consolidation.
