Hosted on the fourth Saturday of April, Celebrate Trails Day is an annual spring celebration of America’s trails. Started by Rails to Trails Conservancy in 2013, the celebration invites everyone outside to experience the joy and impact of America’s trails.
Celebrate Trails Day is more than a day outside; it’s a day of action. The nation’s 42,000+ miles of multiuse trails on the ground nationwide lay the foundation for 150+ trail networks in development—giving us all plenty of places to get outside! These spaces bring incredible value to our everyday lives, improving the quality of life where people live, work and play. When we show up on trails, we send a message loud and clear that these spaces are essential to our communities. As we get closer to this year’s celebration on Saturday, April 26, we will share more information about events and other ways to engage. Let us know that you’re planning to celebrate with us so we can send you updates about all the ways you can be part of Celebrate Trails Day.

Big Celebration —Nationwide Impact

Trails make it easier for everyone to safely get outdoors and get around by foot, bike and wheelchair. These essential outdoor spaces bring powerful economic opportunity to communities big, small and in between; create healthier, safer and more vibrant places; and provide ways for us to connect and add more joy to our everyday lives.
In 2024, tens of thousands of people attended hundreds of group rides, nature walks, family-friendly festivals, volunteer cleanups and other events planned by our partners for Celebrate Trails Day, demonstrating appreciation and demand for trails and trail networks nationwide.
