This is what the future of the skilled trades looks like... It was a thrill to once again team up with my hometown Philadelphia Phillies to welcome more than 50 students from Mayfair School to Citizens Bank Park for our second annual Skilled Trades All-Star Program this week. From touring the HVAC and mechanical systems to learning directly from carpenters and grounds crew, these middle schoolers got hands-on exposure to real careers in the trades. Special thanks to Mayfair’s Evin Jarrett - who is running the only middle school trades program in the city - for inspiring the next generation. At NEST, we’re proud to support initiatives like this through the Skilled Trades Advisory Council and to help close the labor gap with access, mentorship, and real-world experience. #skilledtrades

I’m proud to once again partner with my hometown team, the Philadelphia Phillies! This year, we’re teaming up with a friend of NEST, Evin Jarrett—a true champion for the skilled trades. We first met Evin during COVID, when he was taking his skilled trades shop on the road around the Philadelphia area, inspiring youth one kid at a time. As a middle school teacher at Mayfair School, Evin is leading the only skilled trades program of its kind at the middle school level in the Philadelphia School District. On June 3, we’ll bring 50 of his students to Citizens Bank Park for a full day of hands-on learning, mentorship, and inspiration through our Skilled Trades All-Star Program. This is what building a pipeline looks like—partnering across schools, communities, and organizations to change the narrative and show students that careers in the trades are filled with purpose, pride, and opportunity.
